MODELS FOR STRUCTURED POPULATIONS

Models describing populations with two sexes or with two or more stages depending on age parameters are not very frequent in the mathematical literature. They may be formulated with partial differential equations similar to transport equations lacking of source term, since the effects of the real generation or of the transfer from a stage to another are included in boundary conditions. In our recent work we take into account the effect of generation period in matings between males and females. Further investigations will consider the subdivision of the population in fertile and sterile classes.
