St. Sophia's Cathedral

St. Sophia was built, according to legend, on the spot where Yaroslaw the Wise won a decisive victory over the nomadic Pechenegs. In 1934 the site was turned into a state architectural and hystoric reserve. Now it is used as museum.

Saint Andrew's Church

Saint Andrew's Church is located on the top of the hill over the district of Podol. The refrain of a popular song begins with the words "No Kyiv without Podol.

Mikhailovskiy Gold-Domed Monastery

In 1997-2000, the holy place was restored with the support of the President of Ukraine and the city authorities. At the turn of the 20th century the restored cathedral was consacrated.
