Independence Square and along Khreshchatyk
MaydanNezalezhnosti (Independence Square) is the recognized center of Kiev. The Monument to Independence: a 12-meter bronze sculpture of a girl holding a branch of a snowball tree set on a 50-meter column. Khreshchatyk is the central street of Kiev. The street took its name from a ravine with a small spring called Khreshchatyk that flew on the place of the street before. From the bird's eye view Khreshchatyk looks like a cross. |
Khreshchatyk is the business and administrative centre of the city, and it is also the favourite place of the Kievites for entertainment and rest.
