Abstract

It is shown that most of the usual topics concerning Lie groups, Lie algebras and principal bundles can be developed in a more general context in which the role of groups is inessential, though the traditional approach can be recovered locally. Given a fibred manifold, this scheme is connected with the existence on it of a curvature-free connection.
